International Days of Actions for Political Prisoners – 24-26 October 2015

The leaders and activists of Sinn Féin Poblachtach (Republican Sinn Féin) gathered 25 October in Dublin to pay homage to the Irish political prisoners who are currently enduring the burden of captivity and political injustice. This event was important for those who were ready not only to send their solidarity, but also to show their defiance of British rule and continue to progress towards the united and fully independent Ireland.

The event was dedicated especially to the Agreement, which had been reached in August 2010 in support of political prisoners, but had never really stood a chance with the securocrat regime in Maghaberry Jail. Co Antrim, which is currently inder the control of MI5. The Republican POWs wish to see the Agreement implemented and have given over the last five years, in which the jail administration could have implement it. After a succession of negotiation attempts the prisoners are facing even worse predicament than they have faced since the Agreement was put in place.

The present activists also expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners and the revolutionary prisoners in Turkey.

It was a special honour for the Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia to see our flag presented at the event. It means that Russia stands with the Republican Sinn Féin, which has always been an unbroken continuity of the Irish struggle for independence, and supports the aspirations of Irish people for united, independent and strong Ireland. Russia has always been a friend of Ireland and defender of the people’s right for self-determination and freedom.

P.S. The representative of the Republican Sinn Féin attended our international expert conference “The dialogue of nations” on the 20th of September in Moscow. During the conference RSF called on Britain to declare a date of immediate withdrawal of troops, police and interference in internal Irish affairs. It should be left to all people of Ireland, irrespective of race/colour/creed to decide on a shared future. According to the agenda of the conference, a working group of honorable guests will create a petition addressed to the UN in which the demands of RSF are included.
