Santa Ana, CA – On September 16, Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) members demanded justice for Noe Rodriguez and protested attacks on the Police Oversight Commission at a city council meeting. Though the city faces two lawsuits related to the police killing of Noe Rodriguez, city staff have tried to ignore the incident. CSO OC has made that effort unsuccessful. Organized by BAYAN Northeast, the rally began at around 8 p.m. on a warm and balmy night. Chicago, IL- On Monday, September 22, over 60 Illinois activists and the Illinois Divest From Genocide Network, which is made up of over 50 organizations, protested at the rescheduled Illinois State Board of Investment (ISBI) meeting to oppose the board and Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerich’s continued investment in the genocide of the Palestinian people. On September 25, Cuba’s Foreign Ministry announced the passing of Assata Shakur in Havana, due to health problems and her advanced age. Shakur was a well-known fighter for Black liberation. St. Paul, MN– On September 26, over 100 people gathered to join Women Against Military Madness (WAMM) and the Minnesota Anti-War Committee (AWC) in protest against Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations in New York City. The rally was part of the Anti-War Action Network’s national call for organizations to protest Netanyahu’s visit as he commits genocide against Palestinians.
