FRSO African American Commission condemns Trump’s occupation of Washington DC and the blatant attacks on Black democratic rights

The African American Commission of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization condemns the occupation of Washington DC by Trump in his deployment of the National Guard and federal police to DC’s streets. Trump, at the press conference announcing his decision Monday, evoked Section 740 of the DC Home Rule Act, which allows for the federal government to take direct control of the DC Metro Police. Trump in his press conference talked about giving DC police the power to do “whatever the hell they want.” Washington DC, a city on the upper edge of the Black Belt, has a large Black population,… […]

San José, CA – The Producer Price Index, or PPI, soared 0.9% in the month of July, far more than what economist expected. This was biggest monthly increase since June of 2022, when supply chains snarled by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the consumer price inflation rate to 9%. The PPI measures prices for domestic products sold to other businesses. This surge in the PPI portends higher consumer prices in the future. Since the PPI does not directly include import prices, consumers are now going to be hit with a double whammy. First by rising prices from domestically… […]

Washington, DC – On the evening of Wednesday August 13, the DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR) organized a demonstration in Ward 7, a primarily Black ward, and one of the most overpoliced sections of the city. As soon as he was approached by organizers with cameras, he covered his face and sped off. This encounter foreshadowed a pattern that would be repeated throughout the night of police fleeing when confronted by… […]
