La Grange, IL- 50 activists disrupted Congressman Sean Casten’s town hall on Wednesday night, July 30. They raised their voices to demand that Casten sign the Block the Bombs act. Some of the same organizers had disrupted Congressman Bill Foster’s town hall on Tuesday night to make the same demand. “Casten, Foster, Schakowsky, Quigley, and of course Durbin and Duckworth, they all have Palestinian blood on their hands,” said Nick Sous of the US Palestinian Community Network-Chicago, which helped organize both actions and many others targeting U.S. congresspeople over the past two years. “This is why we won’t allow them… […]
Los Angeles, CA – Centro CSO and supporters gathered at Mariachi Plaza, July 30, for a press conference to announce their victory over the Department of Justice, as it dropped the charges on anti-ICE protester Alejandro Orellana. After seven weeks of nationwide pressure on U.S. Attorney Billal “Bill” Essayli, Alejandro is a free man and can live without government restrictions or reporting to a parole officer. On July 30, U.S. District Judge Serena Murillo dismissed the case without prejudice after Bill Essayli asked to drop the charges the day before. “We are here today to celebrate,” said Jordan Peña, who… […]
Chicago, IL – Ryan Coogler’s movie Sinners is densely packed with social commentary. Much has been written about the film's reflections on a range of topics. This review is grounded in how the film addresses national liberation. Sinners demonstrates through its plot that Black liberation is incompatible with capitalism. “No matter how many guns or how much money you got. They gon’ take it from you when they want,” said Remmick, the head vampire, explaining to Smoke Moore and the other living characters that the downfall of the Juke Joint and the massacre of its customers were inevitable. The fatal… […]
Denver, CO – On July 26, Coloradans gathered outside Denver’s Union Station in a rally against software development company Palantir, which is complicit with apartheid Israel. Palantir develops artificial intelligence used both by ICE to facilitate mass arrests and deportations and by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), with programs like “Lavender” and “Where’s Daddy” used to target and slaughter innocent Palestinian civilians and families by identifying targets, tracking them back to their homes, and deploying bombs. The protesters took aim at the Tabor Center, a skyscraper located in downtown Denver which leases out the 15th floor to Palantir to use… […]
San José, CA – The latest report on Gross Domestic Product, or GDP, confirmed the slower growth of the economy under the Trump administration. In the first half of 2025, from January through June, the economy only grew at a 1.25% annual rate. This a bit more than half the rate of the first half of 2024, where the economy as measured by GDP grew at a 2.3% annual rate, showing that Trump’s trade war is a drag on U.S. economic growth. While the GDP report for January through March showed negative growth, this was mainly because of the large… […]
