Detroit, MI – 50 protesters gathered at the Detroit ICE headquarters, March 29, in response to Trump’s racist attacks on immigrants and to demand Detroit be declared a sanctuary city. Over the past weeks, several families in the city, including victims of the flooding in the Southwest neighborhood, have been turned over to ICE by the Detroit Police Department. Jacksonville, FL – On March 27, Jacksonville Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) rallied dozens of students to protest a speaking event which brought two Israeli occupation forces (IOF) troops to the University of North Florida. The soldiers were on campus to justify their war crimes in Gaza during the first wave of the accelerated genocide. Atlanta, GA – 58-year-old Filipina activist Alma Bowman was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a check-in at the Atlanta facility. Separated from lawyers and her family at the start of the check-in, abused by staff in the ICE office, and detained without medication, Bowman is yet another instance of deportation being used as a tool to repress immigrants. Bowman was originally detained by ICE for three years at the infamous Irwin County Detention Center. Seattle, WA – A dozen-plus anti-war activists rallied and picketed outside U.S. Congressional Representative Adam Smith’s office in Kent on the morning of March 26 to protest his continued support of Israel’s genocidal war in Palestine.
